CBI arrests railway employee in Rs 10K graft case

New Delhi, Jun 17 (IANS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Chief Office Superintendent (COS) of West Central Railway in Rajasthan for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a contractor. A case was registered against Jalandhar Yogi based on a complaint received from a railway contractor. Yogi was arrested on Tuesday after a CBI team laid a trap and caught him red handed while receiving the bribe amount.

The agency also carried out searches at the premises of the accused at Gangapur City and Hindon City which led to the recovery of Rs 1,50,000 in cash and some documents. The accused will be produced before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jaipur on Wednesday.

The contractor said that he was awarded a contract for Gangchal repair work by West Central Railway (WCR) in Hindon City in Rajasthan's Karauli district and the work was completed by him in December last year. It was alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 11,500 -- 0.5 per cent of the bill amount -- for preparation and payment of the contractor's final bill.
