Bijapur: Nine Perish in Truck Accident

Bijapur, Feb 11:  After a truck carrying sugarcane overturned at Elagi Cross in Indi taluk of the district on Wednesday February 10, nine people riding on the truck including two children, died on the spot. Out of the 19 injured persons, the condition of three is stated to be critical.


 

A few of the deceased have been identified as Sharadabai Madivalappa Matri (45) and Shivappa Bagali (60) from Elagi village, Sunil Shivalingappa Gotyala (43) and Parvati Sunil Gotyala (40) from Baradola village and Paramesh Bhushan Kadam (30) from Maharashtra. All the four others are from Maharashtra, and the process of identifying them is on.

It is said that the driver of the ill-fated lorry lost control over his vehicle, when he tried to avoid colliding with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction, at Elagi Cross.
