Tusshar Kapoor on his son: He has to do his own work

Mumbai, Jun 17 (IANS): Actor Tusshar Kapoor is a doting dad, and there are certain values he wants to instil in his son.

Tusshar welcomed his son Laksshya through IVF and surrogacy in 2016.

On values he wants to instil in his son, Tusshar said: "He has to do his own work. My parents didn't do it because the culture that time was such if you are in third grade or fourth grade, you're still depending a lot on others. Now, the culture is such that children have to be self-managed. So, from a very young age now they need to pick up their own shoes, tidy up their toys, wear their own clothes or do half of it at least. You can't call everybody bhaiya."

"And I'm very happy that he is in a school where they focus a lot on the contribution of the environment, the contribution of community helpers, they all equal and need to be respected," he added.

Talking about when he felt like becoming a parent, Tusshar said: "I think the paternal instincts start coming in you when you start getting affectionate towards your pet and you start taking responsibilities like a parent should, you become calmer, more mature, you feel that there's an inner transformation that kind of naturally leads you in that direction."

"I was getting restless that 'Okay, so I'm not married and need to start a family at least and at least have kids. And how is that gonna happen?' Then I met somebody who knew about this procedure of surrogacy and, you know, the unconventional way of becoming a parent, single parent, and a lot of people have done it. So I adopted that path," he shared in an episode of the parenting podcast "Raising Parents".
