Bangalore: Government Doctors Threaten to Go on Hunger Strike

Bangalore, Feb 12: Karnataka Government Medical Officers’ Association has said that its members will go on hunger strike, if the government fails to meet its commitment on meeting their demands.

The government doctors have been demanding that the period spent by them in rural places during their contract period should also be considered for fixing of the special allowance. Dr Srinivasan, secretary of the Association, informed that the state health minister, B Sriramulu, has agreed to hold discussions on the issue with the doctors. He said that the doctors will begin hunger strike from February 27 onwards, if the government rejects their demand to include the contract period spent in villages, for the computation of the special allowance.
