Three more corona patients die in Gurugram, 145 new cases reported

Gurugram, Jun 19 (IANS): Three more coronavirus patients died on Friday in Gurugram, taking the district's total death toll to 55, the highest in any district in Haryana. Besides, 145 new cases were reported in the district.

In Gurugram, 51 corona patients have lost lives in the last 14 days, apart from around 3,800 new cases in last 23 days. The total number of positive patients is 4,136.

Ashok Sangwan, Divisional Commissioner of Gurugram ange, said: "We have adequate beds, ventilators, beds with oxygen facility, in hospitals and the recuparation rate is more than 50 per cent here. So, no need to worry. We have 4,500 beds and the hospitals have the capacity to further enhance the bed capacity."

Gurugram has 1,789 active cases, with 1,228 patients in home isolation. "This indicates that we have adequate beds in hospitals. Only 561 patients are admitted in hospitals," Sangwan said.

"Our initiative of developing isolation centres in residential complexes has also been fruitful as 10 residential societies have come forward and given space on their premises," the officer said.

"We are also in conversation with hotels and guesthouses to set up isolation centres. Such facilities will be ideal for patients with no seperate space in their homes," Sangwan said.

As for higher treatment charges in private hospitals, Sangwan referred to the Union Home Ministry directions and said that the common policy for NCR cities will be finalised in a few days with provision for capping such charges.

Charges will be fixed for private hospitals and they will not take anything extra from patients, the officer said.
