Abu Dhabi, Feb 13:  Konkani Cultural Organisation (K.C.O.) Abu Dhabi, packed a “Family Day Out”  to the sprawling lush green lawns of the picturesque Zabeel Park in Dubai on Friday 12th February 2010, offering peaceful respite from the routine and busy life style. It was a very enjoyable family day out packed with fun and weather was at its best  - a perfect day with lot of sunshine combined with sporting attendees.

3 buses full of people set out from Abu Dhabi to Dubai at around 8:00 a.m. It was an exciting drive down to Dubai with a traditional Mangalorean breakfast on the bus and singsong sessions.

On reaching the spot every one felt that it was the most perfect site for the picnic.   A  lot of effort was put in by the KCO team into the selection of the spot to make sure that the day would be  comfortable and enjoyable for all who attended.

KCO President Gerry D’mello flagged off the picnic and welcomed the gathering.  The entire proceedings were conducted very efficiently by  veteran Manohar Pais and Canute Pinto.

The people were divided into 10 groups  in order to give an opportunity to all to participate in the various games. There were some unique and interesting games like passing the ball,  passing the nylon rope , Water balloon throw,  Filing the bottle with sand, dress designing with news paper, there was a colour display of some real unique dresses that were designed by the  participants.

The morning session was followed by a sumptuous Mangalorean lunch. The skit competitions that followed were creative, witty and very entertaining.  The skits that stood out were the Bus stand scene, Fish market scene and Fashion show. The participants were put into a relaxing mood with a game of Housie Housie and cash prizes were awarded.

The highlight of the day was the all time exciting Tug of War for children as well as adults.

The day ended with the prize distribution to all  participants of the winning teams.

K.C.O secretary Claudia Lobo thanked all who attended and the people who helped in  making the picnic a grand success.

K.C.O as usual were its best in organizing this event with the ever smiling and co-operative members as one unit, who strived hard to make this event a memorable one and all participants had a word of praise and yearned for more such events like this one.

K.C.O. under the stewardship of their dynamic President Jerald D’Mello with his ever willing committee members has lined up several events this year, which will take KCO to new heights.
