Congress leaders take on Chinese handles to counter propaganda

New Delhi, Jun 21 (IANS): Even as Congress is at loggerheads with the government on the Chinese intrusion at Galwan valley and killing of 20 Indian soldiers by PLA troops, some Congress leaders are also taking on Chinese social media handles to counter Chinese propaganda.

A Twitter handle @shenshiwei whose bio says that he is the producer of CGTN, tweeted a video statement attributed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that "No outsider was inside #Indian territory in #Ladakh nor had any border post of the Indian Army captured by outside forces." Chinese media has translated the speech by Modi on the all-party meet called by him on Friday.

But it was rebutted by Congress spokesperson Rajiv Tyagi who commented on the Chinese Twitter handle: "As a democratic nation, Indian Parliament is the most Supreme. @PMOIndia is answerable to the constitution & Indian citizens. Galwan valley is, was and will always be a part of India. We'll take back Aksai Chin from China, acc to a resolution passed by parliament in 1962."

Tyagi said, "Political differences apart we are in full support to the Army and the government to counter Chinese propaganda and transgressions."

The Congress, however, is taking on the Prime Minister on the issue of Chinese transgressions.

The Congress hit back and said, "The PMO's statement is clearly a lame attempt to obfuscate the truth. First of all, the PMO and the government need to clearly state their position. Is Galwan Valley not part of Indian territory? Why is the government not coming forward and strongly rebutting the Chinese claim over Galwan Valley?"

This lack of clarity is particularly striking because it is exactly what the BJP, including some of the very same leaders, demanded from the government when they were in the Opposition, in similar circumstances.

Sample these news stories from 2013, when India found itself in a stand-off with Chinese troops in Ladakh:

“Terming the government’s approach towards China as ‘very weak’, BJP today asked the Centre to spell out steps being taken to tackle the danger arising out of the Chinese troops’ incursion in Ladakh. It said the government should tell the nation the truth about the issue and take the opposition also into confidence.

‘China’s interference in India is very serious. The nation should be told the truth. BJP is deeply concerned about the reported interference by China on the borders with India at quite deep level. It is a very serious matter,’ BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

“Rajnath Singh accused the UPA government of being casual in its approach towards Beijing. Talking about a protracted standoff between the two countries in 2013 summer after Chinese troops stayed in Indian territory of Dulat Beig Oldie for 21 days, Singh said that once the issue was settled through negotiations, ‘We were told both the armies have gone back to their earlier positions.’”

He added: “We want to know that if only Chinese troops had barged in, how was Indian army made to retreat and to where?”

Today the Congress party of India has proved the 'patriotism' which BJP and his andh bhakth blamed for Kashmiri Pandit Nehuru.

Nation wants to know whether our PM is a lier or not ? Is he hiding something or not ? Why contradictory statements from MoE , PMO and Defence ? We want to know the truth that's all... Knowing truth is not anti national activity ? or Hiding truth is not Nationalism.

Modi is better care taker of the border than any of the fake Gandhi family rulers. Read the history from 1947, you will know the truth.

Exposing the lies of traitors is a bigger problem than the actual chinese problem . It is a pity the vast majority of ignorant citizens are taken for a ride. Hope more honest politicians will rise to the occasion to defend our motherland.

BJP said in the parliament that 20 of our brave soldiers we’re martyred but no one was missing. How come Chinese return 10 captured officers and soldiers? What BJP is telling lies again. All people fall for their false propaganda. Unfortunately the opposition is corrupt and useless.
