Kuwait : SWAK Celebrates Annual Feast

Kuwait, February 13: Shirva Welfare Association Kuwait (SWAK) under the presidentship of Urban D’Souza celebrated its Patron feast (Vodlen Fest) at Indian Central School Auditorium on Friday February 12 from 5.30 pm onwards. 

The programme commenced with Nitin Castelino introducing Jaison Lasrado, MC of the programme. This was followed by members' and guests' welcome. Irel, Ines and Roshal presented a prayer dance. The committee members joined in for a welcome song “Swagat Swagat” for which the music was rendered by Adrian Gomes of Shirva parish who is popularly known as A R Rehman of Konkani. SWAK president Urban D`Souza welcomed the guests and thanked all the members for their support.  Alwyn D’Souza read out the annual report highlighting the achievements of SWAK.
 
Audience enjoyed mind blowing Konkani and Hindi song sung by local singers Lancy Rodrigues, Ralph Serrao to the tune of Adrian Gomes music. Foot tapping dances were performed by Ines Martis, Irel Martis, Danica Princia D’Souza, Deon Prince D’Souza, Anusha, Swedel, Marissa,  Roshal, Calvin, Aral, Gavin, Sheldon, Natan, Maclean, Ralph, Carol, Calita, and Astrel. Under the guidance of music maestro Adrian Gomes kids Alister, Alston, Ashley and Ashwin mesmerized the audience by their musical performance with song “Tum Se” from film “Jab we met”. Rib tickling jokes were enacted by Nitin, Anil, Sunny, Renny, Agnel and group.  



























During the felicitation session, Fr John Harry was the chief guest who also delivered feast message. The entire committee member along with Fr Melwyn and Fr John Harry cut the cake to symbolically start the feast. Fr Melwyn was felicitated with memento who also delivered the message to the gathering. Kuwait’s popular and “Golden Voice of Konkani” fame Rony D’Cunnha was escorted to stage by vice-president and felicitation by Fr John Hary with memento.  

Outstanding and merit students Rayan Nazareth ( standard XII ) and Deandra Janice D’Souza ( standard XII ) were honoured by Fr Melwyn. The sponsors, outstanding members and media personnel were also honoured during the occasion for their contribution towards SWAK.

Different games were conducted for people all the age group. A lot of spot prizes were given during dance sessions. Lucky dip draw and housie-housie were conducted to keep the excitement alive. Lucky member and highest lucky dip seller were honoured with prizes.  The vote of thanks was delivered by Gretta D’Souza and Ralph D’Souza offered grace before meal.

The well conducted programme came to an end with masala dance session by DJ Kiran and grand buffet dinner by Royal Plaza Catering which is a joint venture of Spinn confectionery and Cannes Pastries.
