Dubai : Billawa Balaga, Women's Wing Elect New Committee

Dubai, Feb 14 : Billawa Balaga Dubai and Billawa Balaga Mahila Vibhaga working committee nominated a new governing council for the year 2010.
Chandrashekar Moodbidri, who has been an active member of Billawa Balaga Dubai and had earlier held the position of convener and Vice President was unanimously nominated as President of Billawa Balaga Dubai and shall hold the post for 2 years as per the bye laws.
He was also been an active member in community work in Mumbai and was Ex Employee Director of Bharat Co-operative Bank, Mumbai and was also the Organising Secretary of Co-operative Bank Employees Union.
Founder President of Billawa Balaga Mahila Vibhaga, Geeta Suvarna was once again nominated for another two years as President for the second term.
In the inaugural ceremony held on 5th Feb 2010 at Winny’s Restaurant party hall, outgoing President Ashok Anchan handed over to Chandrashekar all rights as President in the presence of distinguished guest from India and Billawara Balaga Abu Dhabi who were part of the inaugural ceremony.
The two Vice Presidents of Billawa Jagriti Balaga and Ex Directors of Bharat Co-Operative Bank, DK Anchan and K. Bhojraj attended the inauguration along with General Secretary of Billawa Mahila Association, Mumbai, Kripa Bhojraj.
K. Bhojraj who is senior vice President of Billawa Jagriti Balaga and Ex President of Vidyadani in Mumbai was honoured on the occasion along with his wife Kripa Bhojraj for his dedicated service to the community for the last 40 years. He is a businessman and a Philanthropist and has been actively involved in various social activities.
Speaking on the occasion both K. Bhojraj and D K Anchan praised the efforts of Billawa Balaga Dubai for its dedicated service to society for the last 12 years. Bhojraj was highly impressed to see a complete young team in Billawa Balaga Dubai and the simplicity and dedication of every member.
Representatives from Billawara Balaga Abu Dhabi were also present for the inaugural function. Executive Committee members Suresh Salian, Pradeep Kirodian and Mahesh Sanil attended the function and were presented flower bouquets to Chandrashekar, Geeta Suvarna and K Bhojraj.
General Secretary of Billawa Balaga Dubai Madhava Hejamady introduced the new and old committee members and invited them on stage. He also briefed everyone on the last 2 years activities and thanked everyone for the support.
Founder of Billawa.com and the first member to have designed a website for the Billawa community, Sudhir Sanil was nominated as Vice President. The young and energetic Madhava Hejamady was once again nominated to continue as General Secretary with Bhaskar Poojary to assist him as Joint Secretary. Thimappa Poojary has been nominated as Treasurer taking over from Vijith Attavar and Prashant Salian takes over as assistant Treasurer.
Outgoing President of Billawa Balaga Dubai, Ashok Anchan thanked all members for their support during his two years tenure, which saw Billawa Balaga Dubai host Dandiya event in Dubai and also participation in scholarship program in Mangalore alongside Akila Bharat Billawa Union that was attended by Chief Minister Yeddyurappa. Billawa Balaga Dubai also participated in the Gulf Billawa Sammelana during his tenure. He also wished the new committee good luck and assured of his continued dedicated service.
For Billawa Balaga Mahila Vibhaga Roopa Sanil who was General Secretary was nominated as Vice President and Jayshree Chandrashekar was nominated as General Secretary with Vidya Kishan as Joint Secretary. Smitha Suchit was nominated as Treasurer
President of Gulf Billawa Sangha, Rajkumar also conveyed his wishes to the new executive committee. Gulf Billawa Sangha is a united federation of Billawa Community in Gulf.
Speaking to Media, Chandrashekar Moodbidri thanked everyone for the trust imposed on him by nominating to the post of President of Billawa Balaga Dubai and assured of his continued patronage for the benevolence of the community. He praised the spirited unity of members which was evident through the process of nomination and the energetic moods despite recession. He promised to work under the guiding principles of Shree Narayana Guru Swami and respect all members without prejudice.
Geeta Suvarna thanked everyone for the support extended in the first two years and requested everyone to show the same enthusiasm and zeal in working for uplifting the deprived members of society. She also appealed for more members to join the Balaga and strengthen its noble work.
Manohar Tonse, Convenor of Billawara Balaga Abu Dhabi would not attend the ceremony as his father has expired. The meeting started with a two minutes silence prayer for the departed soul.
The executive committee of Billawa Balaga Dubai gave 2 return tickets to India as gifts for two of its newly wedded members, Sudhir Suvarna and Santosh Poojary.
Billawa Balaga Dubai also announced that a Satya Narayana Pooja will be held on 2nd April 2010 @ 5 pm at Karama Centre Hall, Dubai .
