Has China occupied Indian land: Rahul to Centre

New Delhi, Jun 23 (IANS): Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday once again sharpened his attack on the Centre over the India-China face off and questioned whether China occupied the Indian land.

"We stand united against the Chinese invasion. Has China occupied Indian land?" Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet. His remarks came ahead of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting to discuss the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) situation in the country. The India-China border face off is also going to be discussed in the meeting.

On last Monday night, at least 20 Indian soldiers, including an officer were killed in an unprecedented attack by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) troops in Ladakh's Galwan valley. The former Congress chief has been critical of the government over the India-China face off and has continuously launched attack on the government.

On Monday, he attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Chinese media praising the Prime Minister. Citing news reports Rahul Gandhi, in a tweet said, "China killed our soldiers. China took our land. Then, why is China praising Mr Modi during this conflict?"

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in a statement on Monday also criticised the Centre and said, "The Prime Minister cannot allow them to use his words as a vindication of their position and must ensure that all organs of the government work together to tackle this crisis and prevent it from escalating further."

However, the Prime Minister's Office had clarified on Saturday and countered the opposition's attack, saying "attempts are being made in some quarters to give a mischievous interpretation" to his remark at the All-Party Meeting held on Friday on Galwan standoff." The Prime Minister's Office said the PM had specifically emphasized that Indian forces now decisively counter any violations on the LAC (unhe rokte hain, unhe tokte hain) in contrast to the past neglect of such challenges.

There is an unwritten agreement between the chinese and the Indian forces that no bullets will be fired and no structures will be erected in proximity of the LAC.
The chinese were putting up tents on their side, but close to the LAC. Indian soldiers objected to this and tried to stop and unfortunate things happened.

For Shri Rahu Gandhiji.... yes, China has occupied Indian land, not now, but during your grandfather's regime!

Our Prime Minister need to put the facts before people and any suspense in the minds of the people need to be cleared. Different versions by different leaders in the government will only add to the suspense and people will start doubting the intentions of this government.

PMs silence during the national crisis will not help and he should address the nation explaining the situation at the border and actions taken by his government. Such posture will stop people asking questions to the government.

In the meeting with Opposition parties, PM said that there were no intrusions but this was not the truth. If PM lie to the people then whom should we believe in the government? People will loose faith in such government.

your rant here reflects how desperate you are to save your supreme leader's face

Wonder if we are being ruled by a regime like North Korea. just ask a question to the government and be ready to named as 'Anti-National' by self styled 'Patriot's who are blind towards burning issues like raising fuel price, failing health care and massive unemployment.

India and China will stop fighting and as usual BJP will credit it as Modi's victory . However ban on Chinese imports, investments and sponsorship should be put in place.

We are not desperate for Chinese money or giving our money to their companies - we don't care for Modi - Xi friendship if it comes at the cost of Indian blood or resources.

Every citizen of India has the right to question the govt. Moreover when so many lies are published by the govt. It's very clear China has taken over the valley and this govt has given it on a platter. Still his followers are denying knowing the fact that he has not retaliated one bit. Speaks volumes about his lies and courage. Poor Indian soldiers were martyred for nothing, the govt let them down big time. This govt will soon create a diversion and this will be forgotten as well. Dont know what will it take for people to finally put their foot down and oppose this nonsense. Just hope it's not too late before they completely destroy our country.
