Border issue with China can lead to serious situation: Manmohan

New Delhi, Jun 23 (IANS): Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh echoing the party view on China in the Congress Working Committee meeting, said if the situation is not tackled properly it can lead to serious situation.

Endorsing party chief Sonia Gandhi's view that the face-off at the Line of Actual Control in Laddakh is a full blown crisis, Manmohan Singh said: "The crisis on the border, which if not tackled firmly, can lead to a serious situation."

Former Defence Minister A.K. Antony and Leader of Opposition, Ghulam Nabi Azad, who attended the all-party meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi briefed the CWC on the border situation.

Manmohan Singh on Monday slammed the Prime Minister on the Chinese transgression accusing him of delivering "disinformation" following Modi's statement in the all-party meeting and later clarification by the PMO. Singh said that Prime Minister should know the implication of his words.

"The Prime Minister cannot allow them to use his words as a vindication of their position and must ensure that all organs of the Government work together to tackle this crisis and prevent it from escalating further," said Singh.

Manmohan Singh in his statement on Monday said: "We remind the Government that disinformation is no substitute for diplomacy or decisive leadership."

"The truth cannot be suppressed by having pliant allies spout comforting but false statements," added Manmohan Singh.

Manmohan Singh was criticising Modi's statement at the all-party meeting on Friday and later clarification by the Prime Minister's Office on the June 15 night's violent face-off between the Indian and Chinese sides at Galwan Valley on the Line of Actual Control that led to the death of 20 Indian soldiers, including a commanding officer.

The PM statement was used by the Chinese to get away from their misdeeds at the Galwan Valley.

Dr. Manmohan Singh is a learned man unlike 'Chaiwala' Modi. Dr. Manmohan Singh's comments are rare but proved 100% true in nature in the past also. He has commented on NAMO's Demonetization and GST or about Modi becoming P.M in 2014 said it would be a disaster for the country and all that proved 100% right. Now also time is not too late if he has commented about present India

There are 2 versions of the incident. As Modi being the PM has the final say, we need to accept his version that Indian soldiers went into Chinese territory, provoked the Chinese into a fight. The soldiers probably wanted a heated exchange of ben stokes and some snowball competition but unfortunately things turned ugly.

So if Modi is right, then Rajnath Singh and S Jaishankar misled the nation. Rajnath Singh has been clueless both as Defense Minister and previously with the Home Ministry - better for him to retire and settle down with his poems. Jaishanker appears educated and perhaps should be given another chance.

Look at the rant in the form of 'Musical Chairs ' trying to clutch the Chinese Straw for Survival....
This after their Antony in Parliament had openly admitted that India never had a chance against the Chinese for their infra structure was far better... This is a fact... History blah blah and all that...
This PM was Mum when it mattered most.....
Now he has been yanked out of the cupboard in defense of Munna along
with the old battalion of the 80 +.... or there abouts ...
    So you have the...
Tihara Chidda...., Kharga, Mohana, Veerappa, Vora, H. Siddaa, Besarmaa, and others singing chorus to the out of tune RaGa...
Most of the 85+ plus don't remember their Children's name properly... How can they remember this RaGa and his rants... leave alone what they did at the border??
They will sign anything for old times sake... Is it not?

What are you writing? Please stick to the subject. MMS is not a ordinary person
When he says something, there is some substance in it. He said there will be 2% drop in GDP during demonetisation and he proved right to the decimal point. He has run the country for 10 years and he knows the possible repercussions.

He is not like Modi. Whatever Modi says is never done. Now there is backlash due to mishandling of things by Modi. Being Modi supporter you may find it difficult but you are exposing yourself by writing nonsense.

If cornered you will start personal attack. Just read all your comments when you are in good frame of mind and you will understand the quality of your reply.

People had jobs, money and very happy when most corrupt (?) government was ruling the country. All those corrupt people are in jail now.

Presently we have very clean government but people are fighting for their survival. No jobs, no money. Only Adani, Ambani and enjoying. Person with no experience can be part of defence deal and another person with no experience can operate airport. Ruling party can build a office worth 800 crores. No RTI, no Lokpal. But this cannot be called as corruption. This is very clean government.

Transparency is not required now because corruption is regularized.

Govt. must accept first if there is a problem and discuss with all the parties and try to solve the problem instead of giving daily various statements which are not matching one another. In this scenario enemy country utilizing all internal discussion and turning it into their advantage. Govt should handle the situation carefully by taking all parties into confidence in closed door meeting without doing politics
