Mangalore: Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Angelore Parish Concludes

Mangalore, Feb 14: The platinum jubilee celebrations of Guardian Angel parish, Angelore was held with grandeur here on Sunday February 14.
Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza offered the Holy Mass at the parish, here on Sunday early morning, along with former Angelore parish priest Fr Norbert D’Souza and Fr J B D’Souza, former assistant parish priests Fr Victor Pinto, Fr Anil Castelino and Fr Maxim D’Souza, former parishioner priests Fr Vincent Monteiro and Fr Denis Rasquinha, Bondel parish priest Fr Anthony Serrao, Bikarnakatte St Joseph’s Monastery rector Fr George Santhumayer, Udupi Episcopal vicar Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Father Muller Charitable Institutions administrator Fr Stany Tauro, Fr Apolinaris Crasta and other clergies.
Bishop Aloysius and representatives of parish lighted 75 lamps to mark platinum jubilee celebrations and later shared the light with the devotees. MLA N Yogish Bhat was the chief guest of the occasion.
Pumpwell Masjid, Thaqwa chairman Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, Maroli Sri Suryanarayan temple managing trustee B Damodar Nisarga, Kankanady Sri Brahma Baidarkala Garodi manager and trustee A Bhoja Karkera and Padil Masjid, Rehman president B Ahmed were the guests of honour.
Bishop Aloysius honoured the former priests of the parish, vice-presidents and secretaries of parish council, heads of convents, leaders of various wards, elderly parishioners, dramatists, social activists, musicians, athletes, writers and veterans of co-operative sectors on the occasion.
Bishop Aloysius, in his presidential address, said that Christians in general express brotherhood and harmony with the people of multi faith and religions in the society. Everyone is a child of God and deserves due respect in the society. If one lives abiding these virtues, one can lead peaceful life anywhere in the world. The Christian institutions foster unity and co-existence that promotes peace and harmony in the society, said Bishop Aloysius.
Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi said that God is one while the mankind has many significant aspects to learn from Christianity. Later, Kunhi presented a cheque to Angelore parish priest Fr Stany Lobo, towards the Education fund of parish on the occasion.
Damodar Nisarga said that trust in God and loving the fellowmen gets one to closer to divine. He acknowledged the contributions of Christian institutions, in the sphere of education and social welfare in the country.
Bhoja Karkera unveiled the plan of pavilion during the programme. B Ahmed released the memorial souvenir. Angelore parish sacristan Joseph Vaz was also honoured for his long and devout service at the altar. Sr Androse D’Souza, representative of Sr Irene Jane D’Souza, provincial superior of Sisters of Charity attended the programme in the latter’s absence.
Corporator Jacintha Boromio, Angelore assistant parish priest Fr Gratian Alvares and parish council vice-president Jossy D’Souza were present on the dais. Angelore parish council secretary Philomena Tauro presented the report. Parish priest Fr Stany Lobo proposed the vote of thanks. Robin Vaz and Dimple Fernandes compered the programme.
Over 2,000 people attended the programme.
