Chandigarh, Feb 15: Punjab, Haryana and their shared capital Chandigarh saw an overcast sky Monday. Weather officials forecast a thunderstorm later in the day.
"Due to the fast approaching western disturbances towards this part of the northern plains, there is a possibility of a thunderstorm in most parts of the region in the next 24 hours. Overcast conditions are expected to remain during most part of the day," an official of the meteorological department said here.
Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 7.6 degrees Celsius, one degree below the average for this time of the year.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a low of 8.6 degrees, three degrees below normal and Patiala recorded a low of 7.1, also three notches below average.
The met office has predicted isolated spells of rain in the coming few days.
"We also expect isolated spells of rain in the coming days that would cause a marginal dip in the mercury," the official said.
In Haryana, while, Ambala saw a minimum temperature of 5.3 degrees Celsius, Hisar had a low of 10.9 degrees and Karnal 4.6 degrees.
