Mumbai, Jun 25: The policy of discharging COVID-19 patients has been changed again by the BMC. It has been decided to test the 'low symptomatic' patients on the fourth day of admission if symptoms disappear and discharge them the next day if the report is negative, instead of discharging them on the tenth day without testing, BMC stated.
A directive in this regard was issued by the civic chief I S Chahal to the coronavirus health centres and the civic hospitals. A related order would also be soon released, Chahal maintained.
This change in policy is has been announced since many people who have tested positive for the virus, become asymptomatic in a day or two. Such patients would be tested on the fourth day to see whether or not they would test negative and will be discharged only then. This move will help in freeing the hospital beds.
