Kundapur: Bishop Inaugurates Newly-Renovated St Anthony’s Pilgrimage Center

Kundapur, Feb 16: Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza inaugurated the newly-renovated St Anthony’s pilgrimage center, Kerekatte, on Monday February 15.  The pilgrimage center was renovated with generous contributions from donors.

Kundapur deanery vicar and Our Lady of Rosary parish priest Fr Alban D’Souza, Badyar parish priest Fr Archibald Albuquerque, Basroor parish council vice-president Rufus Baretto, Basroor parish priest Fr Xavier Pinto, and St Anthony’s pilgrimage center director Fr Philp Neri were the guests of honour.

Fr Albuquerque, the former parish priest of Basroor parish and serving parish priest of Badyar, who worked for the growth of the pilgrimage center during his term was felicitated on the occasion by the Bishop. 



















The donor of the land for extension of the pilgrimage center, the late Joseph M J, was also remembered on the occasion. 

Other donors who contributed financial assistance were also honoured during the programme.

The late sculptor Joseph Coth who sculpted the majestic statue of St Anthony, was also remembered and his son, contractor Alfred Coth, who executed the work was also honoured.

Fr Xavier Pinto welcomed the gathering.  Basroor parish council vice-president Rufus Baretto proposed the vote of thanks.  Basroor parish council secretary Jacintha Mendonca compered the programme.

Over 6,000 devotees participated in the programme.

    St. Anthony Pray for us. Its amazing and touching to see such a huge number of devotees coming in from far and near though this shrine is located in a very remote area.
