Udupi: Auto Owners, Drivers’ Assn Stages Protest Seeking Social Benefits

Udupi, Feb 16: The District Autorickshaw Owners and Drivers’ Association staged a protest rally in the main streets here on Tuesday February 16, to draw the attention of state administration in order to fulfill their many demands. 








Association leaders presented a memorandum to the district administration, to forward the same to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa. The protest was staged to fulfill their various demands such as to awarding of pensions, scholarships to children and hike in accident benefits from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lac among others.  

MLA Raghupati Bhat assured the protestors that he would urge CM B S Yeddyurappa to address their grievances. Association convenors B Sudhakar Shetty and Mahesh Thakur as well as over 1,000 autorickshaw drivers and owners participated in the protest rally.

    Let the udupi auto drivers practice auto meter, practically now a days they are looting the customers. Their minimum charge will start from 25/- onwards. RTO should take immediate action on this matter.
