'Pak management has more experience of English conditions than others'

Lahore, Jun 27 (IANS): Pakistan Test captain Azhar Ali said that he hopes the experience that the team management has of playing in England and away conditions in general would come handy in their tour of the country next month. Pakistan's tour of England is set to start on August 5 with a three-match Test series.

Pakistan go in with a star-studded backroom staff headed by head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq. Batting great Younis Khan is the batting coach while former captain Waqar Younis is the bowling coach. Former spinner Mushtaque Ahmed is the spin bowling coach of the team.

"I don't think we have any problems as far as experience is concerned," said Azhar in a videoconference with reporters on Saturday.

"Misbah bhai has captained the team for seven years, Younis bhai has been a captain and a player for so many years around the world. The experience that Waqar bhai or Mushi bhai have is more than any other bowler could have and in terms of cricketing knowledge."

Azhar said that the coaches and himself had played a lot of county cricket and so they have experience of playing in England.

"We have all played a lot of county cricket so they know the conditions well. So the experience that our management have of England is probably more than any other touring management would hope for so this would hopefully benefit the other players and go in our favour," he said.
