Panaji, Jun 28: A third death related to COVID-19 infection was reported in the state along with the highest spike in the number of cases. A 76-year-old woman who was admitted in a COVID hospital in Margao town succumbed to the infection on Saturday, a senior health department official said. He said that the woman was admitted to the hospital from a private facility, a week back.
This is the third death due to COVID-19 infection reported in the state. The first two deaths were reported on June 22 when an 85-year-old and 58-year-old, both men, who were admitted in COVID hospital died on the same day.

On June 27, Goa reported the highest spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases with 89 new persons testing positive for the infection.
Vijai urges Rane - Increase contact tracing, declare Chandrawado as a containment zone:
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said that he has asked the health minister Vishwajit Rane and south district collector to speed up contact tracing after a 76-year-old woman from Chandrawado, Fatorda died due to COVID-19 infection.
Sardesai tweeted “The victim from Chandrawado Fatorda, reportedly contracted #COVID-19 from Ambelim. Have spoken to both @visrane and South Collector Ajit Roy to speed up contact tracing and declare the area Containment Zone! Once again urge Fatordekars to take this seriously and not let down the guard.”
