Chinese companies contributed to PM-CARES fund, alleges Congress

New Delhi, Jun 28 (IANS): Amid political mudslinging between the opposition Congress and the ruling BJP on the issue of donations from Chinese companies, the Congress has alleged that PM-CARES fund also received donations from Chinese firms.

Senior Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said "Why has PM Modi received Chinese money in the PM-CARES fund, despite the overt Chinese hostilities? Has PM received Rs 7 crore from the controversial company Huawei ? Does Huawei have a direct connection with People's Liberation Army of China? Has the Chinese company owning TikTok facilitated a donation of Rs 30 crore to the controversial PM CARES Fund?"

The Congress has also asked if Paytm, which has 38 per cent Chinese ownership, given Rs 100 crore, Oppo 1 crore and Xiomi Rs 15 crore in the fund.

"Has Prime Minister Modi diverted the donations received in PMNRF to the controversial PM-CARES Fund and how many hundred crores is the amount diverted?" Singhvi asked.

Singhvi said reports suggest that as on May 20, 2020, the fund received Rs 9,678 crore. "The shocking part is that though Chinese forces have transgressed into our territory, Prime Minister has received money in the fund from Chinese companies," he alleged.

"No one knows the constitutional or operational framework of the PM-CARES fund and how it is controlled or money given to it utilised. The fund is not even subject to audit by any public authority including CAG. PMO has gone to the extent of saying this fund is not a public authority."

"The fund appears to be solely run by the Prime Minister in an opaque and secret fashion with zero transparency and zero accountability," claimed Singhvi.

The Congress spokesperson questioned that "if the Prime Minister of India will compromise his position by accepting donations of hundreds of crores from Chinese companies in the controversial and opaque fund, then how will he defend the country against Chinese aggression?"

The Congress alleged that the Modi government continues to sidestep the brazen Chinese transgressions and occupation of Indian territory by Chinese forces in Galwan Valley, Pangong Tso lake area, Hot Springs and Depsang plains upto Y-Junction.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi unashamedly misleads the nation and serves the sinister agenda of the Chinese by claiming that China has never intruded into the Indian territory, nor is it in occupation of any territory," alleged Singhvi.

The Congress leader said that the party will keep asking these questions in the national interest.

One day Indians will ask the important questions - Did China directly or indirectly fund Modi's election campaigns in 2014 and 2019 ? Were the Chinese involved in EVM tampering ? (by the way - are the EVMs or their electronic components made in China ?)

    See...
All started in 1962 when Chacha donted Aksai Chin to China and said in
Parliament... " Not a blade of Grass grows there " That time a counter from Mahavir Tyagi, another Congress man is still remembered... He showed his bald head and said " Not a blade of grass grows here also... that does not mean you give it away "...
So now you have in Congress an unique mix of those who have nothing up there and vouch for it by their sayings and doings...
The China MOU in 2008, Party to Government MOU that is was definitely signed by one who had put on age and not grown anything up there. It is 2020 and still there are no signs... of any growth...

    Deshbhakt,

You will never get the answer to your question. WhatsApp university has trained all their supporters to divert the subject when cornered. If still more questions arise then dig the past and correlate somehow with the subject and prove that our theft is smaller than yours. This the modus operandi of bhakts.

They are least bothered about the country. For them their leader and party is important and they will go to any extent for protecting these two. Their nationalism and patriotism stop there.

PM Cares fund is a scam by itself. As per one estimate Rs 35,000 crores have been collected. Selectively they are giving the information when ventilators were ordered for Rs.2000 crores. They may do few hundred crores of useful expenses and then use the huge left out money for their self needs and election.

PM who came to power due to Lokpal agitation by Anna Hazare is just doing the opposite. No RTI, no lokpal, no audit of public funds.

    Are we still a democracy?

The Prime Minister Modi should learn from neighboring Pakistan Primer Minister Imran Khan 'PM Covid Relief Fund'. The website gives every detail for the donations by the individuals and the money spent by the government.

But 'PM Care Fund' of Modi is violated the disaster management fund of 2005. Since the day it has rejected all the RTI and PIL and seek courts gag for transparency.

Why not simply rename PMNRF as PM-CARES, given the PM's penchant for catchy acronyms, instead of creating a separate Public Charitable Trust whose rules & expenditure are totally opaque?

The Disaster Management Act of 2005 envisages public contributions to the NDRF, which, unlike PM CARES, is subject to CAG audit and RTI. When PM CARES collects crores, National Disaster Relief Fund still awaits bank account?

These 'PM Cared Fund' is similar to 'Gujarat Earthquake Relief Fund'. The donations used for election campaign in Gujarat that elected Modi to power.

If BJP has right to question on Rajiv Gandhi Foundation which party has already details report in press conference, the Congress should also expose the 'India Foundation' headed by Shurya Doval NAS Ajit Doval Son.

When PM Care Fund received donation from China, 'India Foundation' received money from Middle East, US and China need to be audited.

Don't PM Modi promoted 'Pay TM', which partially owned by Chinese company?

    Jai Hind

Shame on Modi, Amit Shah and Nadda of BJP for accepting huge donations in crores from Chinese companies and hiding the details from the Indian people. And they have the gumption to taunt the Congress for a few lakhs many years ago.

No wonder Surrender Modi doesn't want to offend his pal Xi after playing with the lives of Indian soldiers. All three need to reveal the truth immediately.

How can the so called nationalists can take huge donations from the companies of Enemy country? Make PM Cares Fund transparent and let the people be aware how this government is fooling the people.

They want us to boycott Chinese Items but they have different understanding with these companies secretly. PMs friends are biggest importers and hence he is telling that boycott is not on all imports.

As a Indian I feel this is shameful act by the PM to take support of Chinese Companies when there is war like situation in the border.

PM CARES Fund has not been audited under CAG and no raids by IT, CBI, ED, NIA. Besides Chinese contribution even there is Pakistani contribution. But nothing can be verified and clarified by Mann Ki Ba'ath in radio and one way fake bhashans in front media. So PM CARES Fund has our soldiers blood in it.
