Mumbai, Jun 29: Chief minister Udhav Thackeray on Sunday June 28, said that the state government would register cases against companies that provided seeds to farmers of substandard quality. The move was taken after several farmers from Vidarbha and Marathwada complained of poor quality soyabeen seeds sown which failed to germinate resulting in huge losses.
The chief minister also assured to seek compensation for the farmers from the firms.
"We will stand by our farmers. Strict action will be taken against the firms that had provided bogus or poor quality seeds," the CM said.
He further assured to cover nearly 12 lac farmers who were left out under the loan waiver scheme giving the reason for delay of the COVID-19 outbreak and the lack of funds.
