MRPL to Build 330 Houses for Flood-affected in Raichur

Mangalore / New Delhi, Feb 17 : The Board of MRPL (A subsidiary of ONGC) in its meeting on 16th Feb. 2010 has approved construction of houses for the October 2009 - calamity affected villagers of Devadurga Taluk in Raichur District of Karnataka at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.95 Crores. 

In line with the Government of Karnataka's directive, each of these houses will have a built-up area of 250 sq feet and the total project that will cover 4 villages in the Taluk - Veeragota, Kurkihalli, Hire Kudalgi and Saladgudda.  

"This project will be part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, said Shri U K Basu, Managing Director, MRPL. 

It may be recalled that MRPL was one of the first Corporates to rise to the help of the flood affected in October 2009 with a Rupee fifty lakh donation to the CM's relief fund through Deputy Commissioner Mangalore which was followed through with close to Rupees Eleven lac forty four thousand  voluntarily donated by the employees ( one day's salary) and truckfulls of clothes, and cookingware collected by MRPL Employees Club and Ladies Club respectively.
