Mangalore: St Aloysius College to Conduct Inter-Collegiate Literary Fest

Mangalore, Feb 18: The post graduate department of English, St Aloysius College (autonomous) will organize “EngQuest 20Ten”, a one-day inter-collegiate literary fest at the college premises on Friday February 19.

Around 10-15 colleges affiliated to Mangalore University are expected to take part in the fest. Both post graduate and undergraduate students of English literature will participate.

Manjula K T, principal of Besant Women’s College will inaugurate the fest at the Eric Mathias Hall, IT Block. Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) will preside over the inaugural ceremony in the presence of Dr A Lourdusamy, convener of PG department of English and also the convener of the fest, and student coordinator Anisa Fathima, II MA English.

A total of five events will be conducted throughout the day, each event designed to test the knowledge, creativity and skills of the participants, especially with regard to English language and literature.

Fr Walter D’Mello, vicar of Milagres Church, will be the chief guest for the valedictory function while Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ will preside. The prize distribution ceremony will also be held during the valedictory.

The PG Department of English was started at St Aloysius College (Autonomous) in 2008. This is the first time that the department is organizing an inter-collegiate fest.
