Kolkata, Jul 2 (IANS): A senior bureaucrat of the West Bengal government was detected with Covid-19 disease on Thursday. He was posted at the state secretariat Nabanno buildings.
According to government sources, the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer is working in the state's land reforms department as a joint secretary.
He was on leave and joined office on Friday, last week. From Saturday, the officer started feeling unwell with high fever. He was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata. His Covid report came on Thursday.
"The sixth floor of the Nabanno buildings has been completely sanitised. The chamber where the officer used to sit has also been closed temporarily," an official said.
He said that now it is being seen who all came in contact with the officer when he joined his department last week.
In another incident, an Indian Army Brigadier posted at the Eastern Command headquarters passed away due to Covid-19 on Thursday in Kolkata.
Brigadier Bikash Sanyal was posted to Fort William and was detected with Covid-19. He was admitted to the Army's Command Hospital at Alipur, sources at the Eastern Command said.
