Mangalore: Sri Rama Sena Members Arrested for Murder Attempt

Mangalore, Feb 21: The special squad of the superintendent of police, headed by sub-inspector Prakash K, on Saturday February 20 successfully nabbed five members of the Sri Rama Sena and seized their car used in the recent murder attempt on two Muslim brothers intended to provoke communal tension in the city.
The accused revealed that they had planned to incite communal violence in the city after their leader Pramod Mutalik was humiliated in Bangalore.
The arrested are Chetan Poojary (22), resident of Veeranagara, Ganesh alias Munna (25), resident of Maroli, Kaushik (18), resident of Perla Hosamane in Kannur, Harish (27), resident of Faisal Nagara, and Sujith (19), resident of Naguri. The police team arrested them near Adyarukatte.
The accused, who were using a Tata Indigo car (KA-03-B-5580), on Thursday February 11, had plotted to kill the two persons in retaliation for the humiliation suffered by their leader.
The intended victims Usman Paizi, headmaster of a Madrasa in Nadupalli in Bunder and his brother Mohammad Ashraf were admitted to a private hospital with major injuries. A bus was also damaged by the accused during the attack.
The police team consisting of Ananada, Rajendra Prasad, Rama Poojary, Sheenappa, Chandrashekara, Girish Suvarna, Sunil Kumar, David D’Souza, Mohammad Iqbal, and Shiva Naik, participated in the operation.
