Mangaluru: Banglegudde landslide - All affected people shifted to safer places

Mangaluru, Jul 7: Residents of all the houses in Banglegudde, Mathadagudde area in Gurpur gram panchayat, where two children were buried alive after landslip on Sunday, stand vacated from there.

The area has 180 houses with 40 houses located in red zone, which are extremely dangerous areas. Several residents were shifted to other places on Sunday evening itself, and the remaining were shifted out of Banglegudde area on Monday. They have been provided with temporary shelter in Gurpur school, PU college, and hostels. Some among the residents are staying at the Ashraya centres.

The revenue department has decided to pay a sum of Rs 2,500 towards rent in case of those residents who will be staying in rented houses. Shahida, who was injured in the incident, is being treated at home and is recovering, it is learnt.
