Washington, Feb 23 (DPA) US paediatrician Earl B. Bradley was indicted Monday on 103 counts of rape, allegedly committed on child patients under his medical care, according to press reports.
Bradley, 56, appeared before a county court in Sussex, Delaware, charged with 471 assaults on minors including the alleged rapes, Delaware Online reported.
He was charged in December with nine counts of rape, but evidence collected from video recordings prompted police to increase the number of charges.
"The thing that makes this case so troubling and horrific is the alleged abuse of trust in this matter," Attorney General Beau Biden was quoted as saying by ABCNews.com.
Authorities were alerted when a two-year-old girl complained of improper behaviour at the hands of the paediatrician during a consultation.
A subsequent investigation revealed 13 hours of video footage, apparently of the doctor engaging in sexual acts with patients of ages ranging from three months to 13 years.
The doctor, who was stripped of his medical licence last week, was held on bail of $2.9 million.
