Beltangady: To spread coronavirus awareness, women risk lives, earn appreciation

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Jul 8: ASHA worker Hemalatha Shetty, and nurse Preethi, have come in for lavish appreciation from the general public, because of the efforts they put in to spread awareness about COVID-19 by treading lonely and slippery roads winding through the forest region and crossing rivulets in full flow by using narrow wooden bridges.

They risked their lives to see that the Koraga families living away from the hustle and bustle of cities are educated about the deadly coronavirus and precautions to be taken to beat the pandemic.

Out of the six Koraga families living among the forests at Atrinje within Sulkery gram panchayat limits, one person had secondary contact with an infected person. Hemalatha and Preethi ignored risks of injury and life they faced in order to educate the colony residents on Tuesday. They met the locals, and explained to them in detail about coronavirus and precautions to be taken against getting infected from it.

Health minister elated

State health minister Sriramulu, specifically chose Hemalatha and Preethi for lavish praise for their sincere service. In a tweet, he said that a few people in the colony are suffering from fever including symptoms of dengue. He appreciated these two corona warriors for endangering their own lives with the sole objective of serving the people in spite of heavy rains and forceful rivulets. He said people like Preethi and Hemalatha deserve praise for duty consciousness and selfless service to the society.

ASHA worker Hemalatha Shetty and nurse Preethi work is highly appreciated. God bless them for such a noble work.

Appreciation from B Sriramulu twitter handle group is not sufficient. Government should compensate with monetary help and encourage them.
