Delhi HC orders aerial survey of Sanjay Van to check for encroachments

New Delhi, Jul 8 (IANS): After various videos of Mazaars inside South Delhi's Sanjay Van surfaced, the Delhi High Court while taking suo motu cognizance of the situation directed the authorities to conduct an aerial survey of the area and ascertain whether there are encroachments or not.

A division bench of the high court headed by Justice Vipin Sanghi directed the Centre, DDA, the Delhi government and Delhi Police to submit a status report on the matter.

"The court has directed that if there is any encroachment, the same shall be removed immediately," Central Government Standing Counsel Arun Bhardwaj told IANS over the phone.

The matter will now be heard on July 29. The high court took suo motu cognizance of the issue after various videos surfaced on social media regarding the alleged illegal encroachment inside the Sanjay Van area.
