Worried for party, tweets Sibal amid Rajasthan crisis

New Delhi, Jul 12 (IANS): As the Congress found itself amid a crisis over the survival of its government in Rajasthan, senior party leader Kapil Sibal on Sunday wondered aloud if the party leadership will wake up once the damage has been done.

"Worried for our party. will we wake up only after the horses have bolted from our stables?" the former Union Minister tweeted.

The party is facing its second political crisis within months of a revolt led by Jyotiraditya Scindia in Madhya Pradesh, which ousted the Kamal Nath government in that state.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had called a press meet on Saturday, where he termed the BJP a "shameless party trying to topple the Congress government when it is busy tackling the Covid-19 crisis in the state".

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot reached Delhi on Saturday, triggering more speculations about the state government's fate.

    It is good redundant for the Congress party and easy way to clean up disloyal and replace them with loyal party workers. There are many Congress workers at grassroot levels are more capable than these leaders who just need lift.

    What Congress really need to worry is the undemocratic way of practice of this 'Operation Kamala' legally challenging in the highest court to put an end.

    The Supreme Court of India should be accountable for this present crisis which made corruption legal in democracy after the Karnataka horse trading. The court has never took the consideration of voters mandate. The recent Manipur Rajya Sabha voting is testimony and shame to our legal system.

    These democracy comes with the cost. When the countries faced with war situation in our border and economy crisis due to pandemic, the BJP misusing funds to buy MLA's for 25-35 crores and pledging Rs1000-2000 crores topple government shows it real cares for power rather than helping immigrant workers, NRI's who has lost jobs.

    For Congress rather than worries it should challenge the 'anti-defection law'.

    While Kapil Sibal is worried about his Congress party, I am worried about the nation. It is debatable if the BJP is behind this crisis or not. That is not the issue. For any democracy to thrive, it is imperative that there is a strong opposition. It hardly matters who the opposition is. The way things are moving, it is just of matter of time before the Congress is wiped out in the country. This doesn't augur well for democracy.
    That the Congress is in complete disarray would be an understatement. It is an open secret that the top leadership is only interested in promoting its family members. It is not worried about the country. The Congress has many educated and talented people who can give the BJP a run for its money. However, none of them is getting a chance to come up because Sonia is only worried about her children. The only option left for the Congress members is to dump Sonia and her family and form a formidable opposition without them. That is the only way the Congress can come up and if the Congress doesn't come up, the democracy will suffer the most. The BJP will keep marching ahead and play ducks and drakes with the country. Enough damage has been inflicted to the economy and the democracy and if the BJP is not stopped in its tracks, that is bound to sound the death knell for democracy. This is a warning all patriotic Indians should not lose sight of.

    Internally destabilising governments will not help the ruling party as one or the other way it get affected also external countries take advantage of the situation like Chinese incursions. And healthy opposition is a must in democracy otherwise all one sided decisions would not help the country or the citizens but leads to corruptions and what not due to greed ,pride and arrogance. So self control, restraint is very much needed for betterment of the country. Also by providing good governance try to win election in that case citizens would definitely give mandate for reliable governing party.

    Congress is facing severe leadership crisis. All aged politicians must step aside in the interest of party and give chance to youngsters. The majority of voters are young population and they don't want to see these old faces again and again. We cant blame every time ruling Govt for their atrocities towards the public. Now main problem is weak opposition cannot raise peoples voices strongly

    Of course you have to be... look at your party vice president. Instead of worrying for his party , he is bothered about China, Nurses etc. Ask him to spend time on subjects tats is in his syllabus than trying PHD.

    India is suffering from weak opposition........Jaitley & Sushma were a force to be reckoned with when in opposition.....Now India sandwiched between clueless govt and spineless opposition.....A sad state of affairs..... Becoming autocratic state by toppling elected govts...

    Why this thinking it came to ur mind when JDS /Khangress had an unholy coilation after 2018 election? Or when nedderamayya bought 7JDS MLAs including the padarayanpura MLA?
    In democracy when numbers matters other things loose their value.That is why there should be a great discussion among ppl how to change the RP Act.
    What about MVA of Maharastra? If that is o k for you you should not compkai about this develoomet
