Gandhinagar, Jul 13 (IANS): With the highest (902) single-day Covid-19 cases on Monday, Gujarat inched towards the 43,000-mark. The number of cases climbed to 42,808 and 10 more fatalities took the Covid-19 toll to 2,057.
During the day, 602 patients were sent home from hospitals, taking the number of discharged cases to 29,791.
With around 782 cases being reported daily, in 13 days of July Gujarat has witnessed over 10,165 coronavirus cases.
In Surat, the new Covid-19 hotspot in the state, the case count is rising every day. At 287, the city accounted for nearly 32 per cent of cases reported on Monday. Reporting a downward trend, Ahmedabad saw 164 cases.
Ahmedabad was followed by Vadodara (74), Junagadh (46), Bhavnagar (40), Rajkot (34), Amreli (29), Surendranagar (26), Gandhinagar (25), Kheda and Navsari (19 each), Dahod (16), Bharuch (15), Jamnagar (13), Banaskantha and Mahesana (12 each), Patan (10), Anand and Morbi (9 each), Valsad (8), Kutch and Sabarkantha (7 each), Mahisagar (5), Porbandar (4), Chhota Udepur, Panchmahals and Aravalli (3 each), Botad (2), and Tapi (1).
Of the Covid-19 fatalities during the day, five patients died in Surat, 3 in Ahmedabad and one each in Gandhinagar and Morbi.
Ahmedabad has reported 1,527 deaths, Surat (223), Vadodara (53), Gandhinagar (34), Aravalli (24), Patan (19), Panchmahals (16), Rajkot (15), Mahesana, Kheda and Banaskantha (14 each), Bhavnagar and Anand (13 each), and Bharuch (11).
On Monday, the Covid-19 death toll rate of Ahmedabad came down to 74.23 per cent from 81 per cent. The state's mortality rate is 4.80 per cent. It has come down a bit, but is still one of the highest in the country.
During the day, the health authorities conducted 5,619 RT-PCR tests, raising the number to 4,70,265. Of this, 4,27,457 people tested negative.
There are 10,945 active cases. Of them, the condition of 10,871 is stable and 74 critical patients are on ventilator. 3,29,690 people are in home quarantine and 2,578 at government facilities.
