Doha: Glimpses of Tulunadu Traditions at Ravi Shetty's ATS Annual Bash

Doha, Feb 27: Advanced Technical Services (ATS) held their third annual day celebration at the Ashoka hall at ICC here on Friday February 26 at 4.30 pm. The cultural event hosted by the 'Advanced Technical Services' was organized and sponsored by Ravi Shetty, exclusively meant for their employees to entertain, encourage and execute their hidden talents on the stage.
Evening began with a prayer led by Jyotsna and lighting of the lamp by Jyothi Shetty, Chandrakala Shetty, Sharmila Srikanth, Bincy Anthony and Suneetha Mohan. Host of the evening was dynamic star Preetham M N, who was in from Mangalore in Karnataka to compere the evening. Nachiketh introduced Preetham to the gathering.
A welcome skit that displayed the Tulunadu culture comprising Yakshagana, Kambala, Kolianka was enacted by 27 artistes won applause from the audience. This was followed by a Tamil dance number kokkare kokkare ko. A Tamil skit by the meaning a machine (robot) to detect liars was enacted which was followed by a medley of Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi songs.
A traditional Tulu dance Benni and a comedy drama “Kusalda Madme” was also played. Tuluchandra Rai, Pushparaj Muthuswamy, Dinesh Kemminje, Vijay Kumar Rai, Dinesh Shetty, Sunil Rai, Ganesh Shettigar, Praveen Kumar, Sharath Poojary, Kishan Rai, Shivakumar Rai, Sathish Bangera, Nityanand Shetty, Prashanth Shetty, Balakrishna Rai, Kamalaksha Salian, Chandrashekar Shetty, Pushparaj Manchi, Harish Rai, Mahesh Bolar, Santhosh D’Souza, Shashikanth Shetty, Chandrashekar, Kashinath, Hareendranath Nair, Rakhesh Shetty, Wilfred Sunil D’Souza, Jayakumar Pandi, Praveen Shetty, Prafullachandra Adyanthaya, Mahesh Kumar, Meharlal Bhusal, Babuddin Khan, Alwyn Ferrao, Ramesh Gowda, Subrahmanya Santhyar, Sappani Muthu and Bava Kassim, employees of ATS were the artistes in the play.
Mementoes were distributed by the managing director Ravi Shetty to all the participants.
Guest artists from Mangalore Naveen Koppa and Jyothsna Puthram kept the evening lively with their live singing in Kannada, Tulu, Malayalam and Hindi language songs. Naveen Koppa has performed in a number of music concerts in India and abroad. Jyotsna Puthram a BA in Carnatic music and bharathanatyam has performed in the local TV channels in Mangalore and performed in various music concerts in India.
Prior to the annual day celebrations various sports events were held for the employees of ATS and prize winners in the various competitions were honored during this occasion. ATS Kabaddi team which had emerged as a winner in the recently held Tulukoota annual kabaddi tournament were also honored during the occasion.
Rakhesh Shetty, Rahul Balan, Naveen Kumar, Yashith, Kumar Lakshman, Thirusangu Thangaraj, Sreekumar Pillai, Balu Arumugam, Devi Prasad, Mahesh Poojar, Shivakumar Tharur and Abhisher Rai were honored as the 12 best employees of ATS for the year 2009-2010.
Ravi Shetty briefed his employees about the importance of safety at the workplace to his employees.
Naveen Koppa was felicitated by Dinesh Chandra Shetty and Jyotsna was felicitated by Milan Arun. Anthony Sojan conducted the felicitation ceremony of MC Preetham. Iqbal Manna, Suresh Bhatt and Kishore Kumar were felicitated for their support towards ATS in the past years. Anthony Sojan proposed the vote of thanks and this was followed with the orchestra from the guest artists.
A more than 500 crowd took part in the celebration which included employees of ATS and their family. Other family guests included prominent members of the various communities here. ICBF secretary Divakar Poojary, KSQ president Arun Kumar, head of in-house activities at ICC Milan Arun, Tulu Koota former president Prakash Ajila and Karnataka Muslim Cultural Association (KMCA) former president Syed Abdulla Hye were also present on the occasion.
