Toyota Kirloskar Motor halts production at Bidadi plant


New Delhi, Jul 14 (IANS): Automobile manufacturer Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced the temporary halting of production at its plant in Karnataka's Bidadi, starting from the second shift on Tuesday.

According to the company, the temporary production halt will last till July 22nd's first shift.

"This is in accordance with the directives issued by the Government of Karnataka as well as to support the government in their constant efforts to flatten the curve of the rising Covid-19 positive cases in the state," the company said in a statement.

The Karnataka state government has announced a lockdown in the Bengaluru Urban, and Rural districts from July 14 to July 22.

"Since the onset of the pandemic, TKM has adopted a very proactive and multi-faceted approach to safeguard the physical as well as the mental well-being of all its stakeholders including customers, its employees, dealer and supplier partners," the statement said.
