Mangaluru: St Agnes CBSE School celebrates successful vanamahotsav

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 15: “A tree is known by its fruits; a man is known by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love”- St Basil

St Agnes CBSE School vanamahotsav celebration was a great success in July. The students’ response to the online vanmahotsava celebration was greatly appreciated. The events helped to bring awareness about the green cover around us. It also helped in strengthening the bond between humans and plants.

The celebration was an ideal opportunity to instil the value of social responsibility in the students towards safeguarding trees and forests. Although the students were at home due to COVID-19, the school provided an opportunity for the students to participate online in various activities like drawing, planting saplings in their homes, recitation and singing.

Each activity had a unique story to tell and spread the message that we must care for our common home- our mother earth.

The management and staff greatly appreciate the efforts of the students and congratulate everyone for their contribution toward this great event. The response of the parents who took the initiative to inculcate the love for nature in return to God is lauded and appreciated.

As much as I appreciate the creativity and drawings, Vanamahotsava is the celebration of planting trees. The students should have been encouraged more to plant something in their homes rather than drawing on paper. Nonetheless, I'm happy to see the few girls who actually put in that effort with their families! :)
