Gandhinagar, Jul 15 (IANS): Gujarat now has 44,000 coronavirus cases with the highest one-day spike of 925 detected on Wednesday as total cases climbed to 44,648.
Gujarat saw 10 more people succumbing to the virus taking the death toll to 2,081. While 791 patients were discharged on Wednesday, taking the total number of discharged to 31,346.
Just halfway through July, Gujarat has witnessed over 12,000 positive cases, almost each day with a new record. With an average of 800 cases daily, the state has registered 12,005 positive cases during just 15 days of July.
Gujarat saw the highest spike of Corona virus count on Wednesday, with 925 positive cases. Surat, the new hotspot in the state is also witnessing each day with a higher count. Registering over 25 per cent of Wednesday's positive cases, Surat saw 236 cases. While on the declining trend, Ahmedabad saw 173 cases.
Wednesday saw 10 casualties reported in the state, where five patients died in Surat, two patients died in Ahmedabad and one patient each died in Gandhinagar, Bhavnagar and Navsari.
With this, the death toll of the state has reached 2,081. The total number of Corona deaths in Ahmedabad have reached 1,532. 233 have died in Surat, 56 in Vadodara, 36 in Gandhinagar, 24 in Aravalli, 19 in Patan, 16 in Panchmahals, 15 deaths each in Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Banaskantha, 14 deaths each Mahesana and Kheda, 13 deaths in Anand and 11 have died in Bharuch.
Gujarat's mortality rate of 4.66 per cent which has come down a bit, is still one of the highest in the country.
Till now health authorities have conducted 4,87,707 RT-PCR tests in Gujarat. A total of 791 patients were discharged on Wednesday. Out of a total RT-PCR tests carried out in the state, 4,43,059, have been found negative.
There are 11,221 active cases, out of which the condition of 11,153 is stable, whereas 68 critical patients are still on ventilator.
Right now, there are over 3.5 lakh people quarantined in the state where 3,47,754 are home quarantined and 2,527 are in government facilities.
