Kuwait, Mar 1: SAACA Kuwait organized the “Colours & Creations” competition on 25th February 2010 at Indian Community School (Senior Girls) Salmiya Kuwait for Aloysian members and their families. It was wonderful to see alumni & participants in such large numbers ready at the venue much ahead of time.
The evening started with a prayer conducted by Cynthia Pereira. Following this, the President of SACAA Kuwait Prashanth Karivellur welcomed the gathering and introduced the newly elected Executive Committee to the entire audience.
The much awaited competitions then got underway with SACAA members ensuring that the contestants were ready in their respective categories. The tiny tots in the 3-5 years age group had Colouring competition while the 6 to 8 years & 9 to 12 years Category had theme based drawing and painting contests. It was fantastic to see all the participants taking so much of interest and the enthusiasm with which they went about their painting definitely gave the audience the confidence that the next M F Hussain was going to emerge from Kuwait. In all there were over forty entries in the children’s categories. The competitions were judged by Mrs. Ivy Sequeira & Mrs. Reema D’Souza who definitely had a very difficult time in deciding the ultimate winners in each category.
The Vegetable Carving competition was open to all ladies and the judges and audience alike were pleasantly surprised to see the different ideas that came to the fore. This competition was adjudged by Mr. Manoj Kumar & Mrs. Sucheta Swaroop.
The results were as follows
3-5 years Category Colouring Competition
1st Place - Anshil Everen, 2nd Place - Karen Chacko and Consolation – Nathan Dsouza
6-8 years Category Drawing & Colouring Competition - “In the Park”
1st Place - Marcus Miranda, 2nd Place -Linn Pais
9 -12 years Category Drawing & Painting Competition - “ Save the Earth”
1st Place - Melony Sequeira, 2nd Place - Keith Mendonca
Vegetable Carving
1st Place - Renuka Cutinha, 2nd Place - Rubeena Cutinha
Prizes were distributed to the Winners while all participants were given Participation Certificates. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Reshma Correa, Vice President SACAA Kuwait.
Vinutha Miranda anchored the entire event and ensured that the proceedings were conducted smoothly. The event was Co-sponsored by Al Yasra Foods, M&M Confectionery, Indian Delight Restaurant, Vista Advertising and DJ Kiran. Thanks to Sujay for providing melodious music.
SACAA Kuwait thanks all the parents who ensured that their children participated in such large numbers and acknowledges the support from the Ex-Aloysian community in Kuwait. Many more events are being planned and the Executive Committee looks forward to their cooperation for the upcoming events.
