Prasad was arrested in the pub attack case in the city as well as several times in other cases of violence.
Rajendra, a relative of Prasad, was also arrested along with him. The police said that Prasad’s link with Poojary was proved after investigation and he was working as a close associate of the criminal.
He was key in executing the plans of Poojary by threatening businessmen and builders.
The police sources said that three more associates of Prasad are yet to be arrested.
Inspector general of police Gopal Hosur had recently informed that underworld elements are operating with the help of locals. He had also hinted that they had reliable information about these persons.
From last three to four years, builders and businessmen in the city had received threatening calls from criminals.
Most of the calls were made in the name of Poojary. The calls demanded money and those who refused to pay found their offices targeted, sometimes by shooting.
One of the builders was even killed by Poojary’s associates and three murder conspiracies were foiled by the police.
Prasad was at the forefront of Hindutva activity and was first with the Bajarang Dal before joining the Sri Rama Sena and becoming its state co-convener.
