Mangalore: Gandhi Statue Desecration at Puttur - Police Arrest Sene Leader Puthila

Mangalore, Mar 2: Sri Rama Sene state convenor Arunkumar Puthila was arrested by the city police on Monday night March 1 in connection with recent incidents of desecration of Gandhi statue and gutting petty shops in Puttur.

Puthila was picked up in the city on Monday night. He has been handed over to Puttur town police for further interrogation.
It can be recalled here that it was found on February 15 some miscreants had garlanded the statue of Gandhi near KSRTC bus stand, Puttur with the footwear, which had triggered massive opposition from the people. The statue had been erected in memory of the visit of Mahatma Gandhiji to Puttur during the freedom struggle in 1934.
