Washington, March 2 (IANS) The US-India Business Council (USIBC) has named Shephard W. (Shep) Hill, a senior Boeing executive, as a director to help provide strategic direction for US and Indian companies seeking bilateral investment opportunities and partnerships.
The trade advocacy association seeking stronger commercial ties with India Monday announced the appointment of Hill, president of Boeing International and senior vice president of Business Development and Strategy for The Boeing Company.
"Shep's appointment is an important and welcome addition to the USIBC board," said USIBC Chairman Indra Nooyi. "Shep brings deep international experience, which will enable seamless communication between USIBC members and the world's leading aerospace company."
"The USIBC is a leading organisation that strengthens the commercial ties between the United States and India," said Hill.
"The council is dedicated to expanding business opportunities in both countries and addressing issues that can facilitate bilateral trade. I am honoured to join the USIBC Board of Directors and I look forward to representing the council and advancing the business interests of its members."
Boeing has a significant presence in India and has been an integral member of the council's advocacy efforts for many years, said the association representing 300 of the largest US companies investing in India, joined by global Indian companies.
As a senior executive in a company that hopes to conclude multi-billion dollar deals in India over the coming years, Hill will be a valuable resource for the council as it seeks to deepen US investment and activity in the Indian economy, it said.
Hill has been engaged in the aerospace industry for more than 20 years, first as an executive for Rockwell Aerospace & Defence and then at Boeing.
As president of Boeing International, he oversees the company's global affairs with leadership responsibilities for 20 in-country operations around the world.
He has significant experience in international operations with specific expertise in key corporate functions like mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and equity investments.
Hill also brings an invaluable perspective on the US legislative process through his prior role as Chief of Staff to Representative Bill Chappell of Florida from 1980 to 1987.
In 1989, Hill completed the John F. Kennedy School of Government Programme for Senior Executives in National and International Security at Harvard University.
He is a graduate of the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, and received a bachelor's degree in history from Stetson University. Hill is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
