Mumbai, Jul 18: The Maharashtra government has issued a circular making it mandatory for the essential category staff to obtain QR code-based e-pass to avail commute services in local trains in Mumbai.
The circular stated, "An Electronic QR based e-pass along with a valid railway ticket is mandatory to travel in the local suburban services from July 30. This ensures nobody barring from essential services travels in local trains. It also ensures proper social distancing for cops screening the people entering."
The HR would prepare the list of employees and submit it to the Mumbai Police commissioner's office. The authorization of the e-pass will be done by a nodal officer. The employees will receive an SMS along with a password to download the QR based e-pass.
The essential workers' ID cards will be scanned at the entrance and the QR codes as well as the photographs of the essential workers will be displayed enabling the security staff and ticketing staff to verify with ease.
