Gadag, Jul 18: Residents of Seetalahari village in the district have started to live in their agricultural fields after many families in the village got coronavirus infection as a result of a few young people trying to help a man through mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

A bus driver working for Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation had come to his native place, Seetalaari village, as he had no work because of lockdown. He got busy with agricultural work. After he suddenly suffered from breathing difficulty, his friends admitted him into the district hospital. The doctors collected his throat swab sample and sent him back home after giving some medicines.

The driver who reached his home suffered from massive heart attack. The villagers rushed to his help and tried to breathe life back into him through mouth-to-mouth. But he died without showing signs of recovery. The villagers then sobbed by embracing his body.

Later, the deceased was confirmed to be having coronavirus infection. Ten persons who tried to save him have been infected. Because of having contact with them, four others too have got the infection. Out of about 150 population of the village, 14 have been infected. Over a hundred people have been subjected to institutional quarantine.

Fearful of coronavirus infection, over 40 families from the village shifted base to their agricultural fields. Some have built temporary shelters with the help of tarpaulins, tractor trailers and omni vehicles.

    Is the Karnataka State Government for real???? These people are living in a makeshift house that is not fit for habitation. No electricity, toilet, running water.. etc. What is the government of Karnataka doing?? Buying new cars, building statues worth hundreds of crores while it's people live in filth & squalor? Where are the elected representatives & the district administration? It's part of your duty to see that they have a proper house to live in..and don't make money on that..

    So sad.The moment patient had breathing difficulty ,they must have thought it is corona and test was made,without thinking other symptoms too.He could have saved only if they had investigated properly and treating him in hospital.Now others too got infection.Big salute to village people who helped him to give mouth to mouth breathing.may his soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to his people.

    Since they had direct contact with victims oral fluids, it was imperative they would 100% catch the infection!

    Panic of CORONA created by media will have already mentally killed those who got infection from the victim; instead they should start treatment if symptomatic , eat healthy food, & see the infection disappear in 5-7 days!

    CORONA is just like any other, airborne, flu, but CORONA phobia created by media & vested interests is the #1 killer aspect!

    If these people had not tested for CORONA, if they were asymptomatic, perhaps they wouldn't be living in fear of impending death today; intense fear of death itself can be the cause of death, which will be later attributed to CORONA!
    As CORONA is also airborne virus infection, almost majority cannot escape it; only what we can do is take precautions!

    IMHO, unnecessary testing, in absence of classical symtoms, should be avoided!

    Wishing them all a fast recovery!

    Government district hospitals are in shambles !!! Gross neglect by authorities, with irresponsible faculties members, who lay emphasis on their private practices, rather then provide health care for the under priviledged, citizens. This is a rampant disease afflicting all Municipal hospitals !!!!
