Odisha announces incentives for Covid health workers


Bhubaneswar, Jul 20 (IANS): The Odisha government approved incentives for healthcare personnel working at Covid-19 health facilities, here on Monday.

The doctors working at dedicated Covid hospitals, Covid Health Centres and Covid Care Centres will get an incentive of Rs 1,000 per day, according to a health department notification.

The para-medics, including staff nurses, pharmacists, radiographers and laboratory technicians, will get an incentive of Rs 500 per day. The Class IV employees will get Rs 200 per day.

They would be entitled to the incentives on days of their Covid-19 duty, it said. "The employees are entitled to avail the incentives for those days in which they are in active line of duty in contact with Covid patients in Covid health facilities," the department said.

The expenditure will be met from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF).

The state government has also made a provision of Rs 7,500 for handling and disposal of body of a Covid patient. The expenditure will be met out of CMRF.
