Shops to stay closed for 3 days in Jharkhand


Ranchi, Jul 21 (IANS): All shops will remain closed for three days in the weekend in Jharkhand due to rising coronavirus cases. The three-day closure was announced by the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI), here on Tuesday.

"After discussion with shop owners, the FJCCI has decided to shut shops for three days -- Friday, Saturday and Sunday -- due to the rising coronavirus cases," said Kunal Ajmani, FJCCI president.

Stating that livelihood is also necessary with life, Ajmani said, "We appeal traders to follow the decision to break the coronavirus chain."

In last 24 hours, six death were reported and 225 people tested coronavirus positive, taking the tally above 5,700.

According to the Jharkhand health department, the number of active cases is 2,889, and number of fatalities 55.

In last 24 hours, maximum 71 cases were reported in the Ranchi district, followed by 35 in the Garhwa district.
