Mangaluru, Jul 22: Sharath (17), the physically challenged boy, who was found abounded in a house near Padil, Kannur with his ill grandmother and later shifted to Sion Ashram, Beltangady, died due to illness on Tuesday, July 21.
Daijiworld carried a detailed article on Monamma and her grandson Sharath last month. The elderly woman and her physically challenged grandson were living in the outskirts of the city. The duo, forgotten and ignored, led a life of penury.
Sharath (17), physically challenged by birth, was vocally impaired and could not stand on his own. When Sharath’s grandmother fell ill last month and admitted to a hospital, he was left alone and orphaned.
After consistent efforts from Archana, station manager, Indigo Airlines, Mangaluru, through Daijiworld and other ways, the district administration responded quickly and took initiative to treat and take care of Sharath. He was admitted to Wenlock hospital later. Soon after he was discharged, he was shifted to Sion Ashram, Beltangady.
On Tuesday in the afternoon, he breathed his last.
