BJP legislator among 510 new Covid cases in Jharkhand


Ranchi, Jul 22 (IANS): Jharkhand reported a record number of more than 500 coronavirus cases including a former minister, health officials said on Wednesday.

BJP Ranchi legislator and former Minister C.P. Singh informed on Twitter that he has tested positive for coronavirus. "I am corona positive. Those who have come in contact with me should get themselves tested," Singh tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.

Jharkhand has registered a record number of 510 coronavirus positive cases in the last 24 hours, including 120 in Ranchi, taking the total number to more than 6,200.

In the last 24 hours more than seven deaths have been reported in the state taking the death toll to 62.

As per the data provided by the health department, the number of active cases in the state is 3,192.

In the last 24 hours 107 people have recovered and have been discharged from various dedicated Covid-19 facilities in the state including 21 in Hazaribagh followed by 20 from Giridih, 12 patients from East Singhbhum, 11 from West Singhbhum, 10 each from Ramgarh and Koderma, 8 from Deoghar, 7 from Dumka, 3 from Bokaro, 2 from Godda and 1 from Palamu.

Jharkhand had reported its first coronavirus case on March 31 when a Malaysian woman had tested positive for Covid-19.

Due to the rampant rise in coronavirus cases across the state the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients has plummeted to 47.48 per cent.
