Mangalore, Mar 5: “Team Mangalore”, the city-based hobby group of kite flyers has been officially invited by Tourism Authority of Thailand to represent India at the 11th Thailand International Kite Festival at Rama VI camp, cha-am, Petchburi, Thailand.

The team with its versatile kite collection and mission to spread culture through kites is all set to take off to Thailand. The four-member-team comprises Sarvesh Rao, Nitin J Shetty, Prashanth Kumar of MRPL and Vasant Kumar Sanil of KIOCL.

The Team Mangalore is the only team representing India in this International Kite Festival to be held on March 13 and 14. The two-day festival involves more than 20 teams across the globe. The team will display and fly special kites such as Yakshagana, Kathakali, Gajaraja, Charlie Chaplin, Owl and Bharatnatyam and such other varieties of kites and spread culture of India.

The “Kathakali”  kite of Team Mangalore has found its place in the Limca Book of Records for being the “Largest Kite in India”. The Team in January 2010 had also organized International Kite Festival in the city that was appreciated by locals and international kite flyers.
