Mangalore: State Level Student Technical Paper Presentation at Sahyadri College Held

Mangalore, Mar 6:
A state level student technical paper presentation competition on the theme “Recent advances in mechanical engineering” was organized at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management here on Saturday March 6.

The event was aimed at bringing together budding researchers, academicians and industry experts to exchange the latest technological information in their field of interest. About 200 students from all over the state participated in the programme and presented 50 papers in the different fields of mechanical engineering.

 



Professor Raghunandan, chairman, department of Aeronautical Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore inaugurated the programme.

In his inaugural address, Prof Raghunandan stressed on the importance of research and called upon the students to contribute to the field of research even when they are undergraduate students.

Professor V Ganesan, department of mechanical engineering, IIT Chennai called upon the students to tap the internet resources to update themselves in their field.

Professor B S Samaga, dean, NAMAM, Nitte said that paper presentation events provide a great opportunity for students to develop their communication and presentation skills which are crucial for one’s success in the industry.

Dr D L Prabhakar, the principal of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management gave an overview of the college.

Manjunath Bhandary, the chairman of Bhandary Foundation motivated the students to reap optimum benefits from the programme. Balakrishna Bhandary, an industrialist from Mumbai was present on the occasion.

Dr A J Antony, vice-principal, and the organizing secretary of the event welcomed the gathering. Joel D’Mello, student vice-president of “FLAMES”, Mechanical Engineering Association proposed the vote of thanks. Antony D’Souza, lecturer in the department of MBA, compered the programme.
