New Delhi, Jul 24 (IANS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has transferred Pankaj Srivastava, the Joint Director of Kolkata Zone who was handling sensitive cases like Saradha chit fund scam, to Delhi, sources said on Friday.
Srivastava, who was transferred on Thursday evening, was appointed Joint Director of the Kolkata Zone by then CBI Director Alok Verma in 2018.
He was also given the charge of sensitive cases like the Saradha chit fund scam, Rose Valley Ponzi scheme scam after the agency was criticised by the Supreme Court for its slow pace of investigation.
A source in Delhi said: "Srivastava has been transferred to Delhi in the training wing."
Srivastava, an IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, is known to be an upright officer.
On February 3, CBI sleuths who went to question then Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar in connection with the cases were detained by the police.
The police had also besieged Srivastava's house, trapping him inside.
