Pak backstabbed India in Kargil, but India triumphed: PM

New Delhi, Jul 26 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reminded the nation of what he called the backstabbing by Pakistan during the Kargil war in 1999, and paid tribute to the Indian armed forces for their valour in defending the country's territory and their victory.

"Twenty-one years ago on this day, our Army won the Kargil war. Back then, India was trying to have cordial relations with Pakistan. However, as the saying goes -- 'it is in the nature of the wicked to have enmity with everyone for no reason'," Modi said during his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat'.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan undertook the "misadventure with sinister plans to capture India's land" in order to divert attention from its "internal conflicts".

He also talked about #courageinkargil trending on the social media. "People are bowing down to their heroes, paying tribute to the martyrs. I urge you to tell each other the stories about the sacrifices of the brave mothers, share the stories of our jawans associated with the Kargil victory today," the PM urged the countrymen.

He said that what Indians say in the event of a war has a profound effect on the morale of a soldier deployed on the borders as well as his family back home. Modi reminded the Indians not to forget this fact.

He also remembered then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's statement from the Red Fort ramparts during the Kargil war.

India is celebrating Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26 to commemorate Indian armed forces' victory over Pakistan troops which had occupied Indian forward positions in 1999 in Kargil.

    Mr. Modi,

You forgot to mention few more things that people forgot:

    1. BJP, led by Bangaru Laxman, made money even from the coffin meant for the lost their lives for India.
    2. Indian army won the battle by the help of those same guns that your party labelled as useless, Bofors.
    3. Even after 21 years , some widows, who lost their husband not compensated.
    4. Even after that so called back stabbing by Pakistan, you went there as an uninvited guest with gifts, just to taste biriyani.

Both the incidents were provoked by outside countries. yes it is difficult with china what we can do with Pakistan. But can you tell me why do you want to demoralise India sitting in India. Army has tried its best against a technologically and economically bigger power.

With BS you can polarize the electorate, when it comes to foreign relations and diplomacy, true wisdom combined with political acumen is what matters, not to mention the importance of genuine educational background.

One reason is china itself. China has global ambitions and it wants to weaken India from every side. Though China is 2 and half times bigger than India it sees India as a strategic competitor in future. It has a carrot of huge investment and there are invisible sticks to nudge them. Take the case of Nepal, China has nibbled small swatches of Land of Nepal but yet Nepal sings praises of China lest china gobbles more Land. In Schools we see bullies get more cajoling from fellow students to prevent any possibilities of them becoming the victims of these bullies. Same analogy can be found with China.

The Road works in the Border, Scrapping of article 370, NRC in Assam has also contributed to the s. But the question is do we want to be dictated for internal policies of others.

Thanks to its huge trade surplus which China enjoys. It will take on small impoverished nations through its BRI initiatives. Finally these countries economy and foreign policies will be dictated by China.
