Udupi: MLA Assures of New Fish Market at Katpady Soon

Udupi, Mar 10:
“The development work on the new fish market at Katpady will be undertaken with state funds as soon as the local gram panchayat vacates a private shop that obstructs the access”, said Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon.
 
He was speaking at a felicitation function of Fisherwomen’s Association and Fisheries Federation, which was held at Katpady, near here, on Tuesday March 9.

 
Mendon urged the local gram panchayats to take an earnest interest in providing basic facilities at various fish markets.
 
Baby H Salian, president, taluk Fisherwomen’s Association, Yashpal Suvarna, president, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada Fisheries Marketing Federation, and Appy Anchan, veteran fisherwoman of Katpady, were felicitated on the occasion.
 
Zilla panchayat member Sarasu D Bangera, taluk panchayat steering committee president Katpady Shankar Poojary, taluk panchayat member Jayanti Indushekar, Katpady gram panchayat president Ashok Rao, former president Prem Kumar, social activist Geethanjali M Suvarna, taluk Fisherwomen’s Association vice-president Appy M Bangera, chief secretary Laxmi Anand, advisors Ramish Kidiyoor, Parvati Salian and Sharada Shriyan were present.
 
Katpady Fisherwomen’s Association president Yashoda Shriyan welcomed the gathering.  Nagesh Shriyan proposed the vote of thanks.  Prakash Suvarna Katpady compered the programme.
