Panaji, Jul 31: Chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant wants to convert Cabo Raj Nivas into a Casino Spa Resort and hence has floated an idea of the construction of new Goa Raj Bhavan charged GPCC president Girish Chodankar.
The chief minister is busy making fortunes even during the pandemic and hence wants to sell the historic Raj Bhavan to a private player by keeping his share in the business.
The silence of the chief minister on the environmental issue of cutting of trees in Mahavir Wild Life Sanctuary, Mollem National Park and for doubling of railway track is because Dr Pramod Sawant has direct stakes in coal and mining business claimed Girish Chodankar.
The chief minister who admitted in the one-day assembly session that the state finances are bad is now on the spree of announcing construction and renovation of projects like New Raj Bhavan, Goa Legislature Assembly Complex which will involve crores of rupees. The government is pushing these works with an eye of commissions and kickbacks from the consultants and contractors of the said projects.
The insensitive government has no money to pay monthly pensions to DSS beneficiaries, widows, senior citizens, seafarers and person with disabilities, but goes ahead in constructing memorial of late Manohar Parrikar spending almost 15 crores.
